So it’s been about one month since the wildfires in Lahaina, Maui. As a local born and raised on Oahu, I wanted to further share some of the things I’ve observed about what has happened. Not so much a day to day recollection on the events on Maui, but more about how we, as locals, have reacted to the events: the good, the bad, and the ugly. The news coverage has reported a lot of lawsuits and complaining on social media, primarily by locals. Investigations are still underway as to the cause of the fires. Donations from all over the world have poured in. And we’ve seen Hawaii, as a community, stand together. It’s still going to be a long road ahead for Lahaina and those who call it home.
